VeinGogh Procedure

VeinGogh Procedure

VeinGogh is a relatively new treatment for spider veins that uses a heating technology to eliminate the veins. This technique allows more accuracy and less risk to the tissue and vessels surrounding the targeted veins. The procedure uses heat to collapse the damaged veins so it gradually disappears.

When is it Done?

VeinGogh is a treatment option for veins that are too small to be repaired by sclerotherapy. Any adult in good health who wants to get rid of their spider veins is a good candidate. VeinGogh works best on smaller spider veins, up to 0.3 mm, and is not designed to treat larger vessels deep beneath the skins surface.

How Does the VeinGogh Procedure Work?

VeinGogh is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure, performed in the doctor’s office. The procedure is usually pain-free and involves little or no downtime. VeinGogh is done with a small fiber, about the width or a single hair, to send heat into the affected vessel. When inserted, the heat from the fiber causes the walls of the vein to breakdown and fade away. You may feel a pinch when the fiber is inserted, similar to a hair being plucked, but ultimately the procedure is pain free.  As with other procedures to eliminate unsightly veins, the damaged vein is absorbed by surrounding tissue and the blood is rerouted to healthier veins.

This is a very quick procedure, lasting less than 20 minutes. You will notice results immediately after a VeinGogh treatment, and improvement continues over the next few days and weeks. The amount of time it takes for complete results simply depends on the time it takes your vein to seal and collapse.

Many people see desired results with only one treatment session with VeinGogh. However, depending on the severity of the condition, some patients may require a series of treatments to obtain preferred results. If more treatments are desired, more than two or three sessions usually completely eliminate spider veins that did not vanish with the initial treatment.

What is the recovery like?

When the procedure is complete, patients can generally continue regular activities immediately. Some VeinGogh patients experience slight redness around the treatment site, which usually disappears within hours. Your doctor may recommend the use of certain moisturizers to assist in reducing redness and speeding up the healing process. There is a rare risk of scarring after the VeinGogh treatment, leaving the area beautiful and smooth.
